Really interesting theory of how the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer achieved such vivid realism with no documented art education. One question still remains in my mind: How could he and anyone else who knew about this technique that he probably used for decades, have kept it a complete secret right up to present day?

A quirky documentary from Penn and Teller, who usually spend their time skewering magic on stage. This explores the efforts of an inventor to examine the methods of Vermeer's art. It's fascinating and insightful, and Jenison comes across as determined and a bit eccentric, but likeable.
