Flora, a little girl, meets up with a flying squirrel, Ulysses, and they become fast friends while sharing a few daring adventures. Great illustrations!

Wonderful quirky story about a girl who rescues a squirrel who suddenly acquires superpowers. Darkly cynical, very very funny and still -- full of heart!
I love that the main character loves comics and so bits of the action take place in small "comic book" inserts into the text. I would love to read the Further Adventures of Flora and Ulysses if DiCamillo were to write them.
