My recommendation: if you liked Hunger Games, or Divergent, or Maze Runner, or any other dystopian work, give this one a shot. There's some really strong writing here and it definitely holds its own in terms of violence and mayhem.

Great book! If you enjoyed reading the hunger games, you will for sure like this book.

Wasn't really sure how much I was going to like this book from the slower beginning, but it picked up and I was unable to set it down! It's amazing how many great books I've found by just pulling them off the shelf. I am very much looking forward to reading the next book!!

This book is well done, sort of a cross between The Hunger Games and the Divergent series. Not everything nor everyone is what it seems. I look forward to the next volume of this series.

I have not read this book but I have a notion it will remind me of two books I have read: The Hunger Games and Allegiant series. I could not put this book down but I had to just before i went to bed since It was a begginning of a new chapter when they were about to find their ways to Tofu City because if I read another word, I would be up till midnight.

I read this book in one day. It is interesting how blindly people follow the government. These kids wanted to go into "The Testing" process and make a difference in the world only to find out what horrors await them. I'm interested to see how Cia deals with the memory wipe in the second book. She had a hard enough time dealing with events the first time around. As a teacher, it makes me look at "testing" our kids in a different light.

"When Cia is selected for the Testing, she's excited by the chance to compete for a coveted spot at the elite University. But a warning from her father to "trust no one" leaves her unsettled - especially since it turns out to be vital advice. As the trials of the Testing become increasingly twisted and brutal, Cia is forced to re-evaluate who she is, what she believes, and what she's willing to do to survive. With a strong, believably flawed heroine and an intriguing dystopian setting, this fast-moving, paranoia-drenched series starter is sure to be a hit with fans of the Divergent and Hunger Games trilogies." I'm still reading the book but its basically a mix of the books Divergent and The Hunger Games

This book follows a teenage girl named Malencia (Cia) in a dystopian future. The book follows her journey as she discovers corruption, romance, and fear in a way we can only imagine.

Cia has lived a quiet life in the small, but growing Five Lakes colony. After the Seven Stages War, most of the world’s population was decimated and the environment destroyed. Cia’s father, a rare university graduate was placed at Five Lakes to help turn the toxic soil fertile again. Getting ready for her high school graduation, Cia hopes to be selected for the Testing, a rigorous set of written and physical tests that only a chosen few take in the hopes of attending University. When her dreams come true, she and three other classmates are selected to travel to the capital city for Testing, Cia’s father confides in her that the Testing isn’t all that it seems. He believes there is a sinister purpose to the process, and with his last goodbye, reminds her to “trust no one.” Shaken up by her father’s confession, Cia shares her father’s suspicions with Tomas, another Testing candidate, hoping she has chosen the right ally to ensure her survival.
