Very interesting, intelligent series. Lots of surprising twists in the plot. Lived up to all the hype. Really enjoyed season 1 and can't wait for season 2.
I'm rather torn about whether I liked this or not. On the one hand, this is an engaging, suspenseful series that I found entertaining and addictive to watch. However, there are a number of issues I find difficult to accept: the female characters are portrayed in what I consider a negative light: the woman CIA agent is mentally ill; the wife is submissive to the husband (with the subtext of her also being unfaithful), the daughter is a bratty teenager. I also don't appreciate the connotation this show makes that it IS alright for the government to spy on citizens for unproveable suspicions, especially given the recent NSA/Verizon phone records sweep. At most, it's a show to make an intelligent person think; at worst, it's a show that confirms every conspiracy-nuts' nightmares.
Loved it--well done, great drama--lots of twists and turns. Where is Season II?
A great series. A must watch. Mandy Patinkin and Clair Danes are excellent. I found it impossible to watch only one episode at a time...and am looking forward to season 2. I recommend this series to those who enjoy watching movies about government agencies and what goes on behind the scenes.
I am sad to say I am disappointed with this series. I had heard good reports about season one, but I suppose I expected too much. All the characters are flawed beyond what is reasonable, and the writers did a terrible job with the season finale. If you want to feel angry, disappointed, and a sense of emptiness, watch this series.
I really liked this. It's a thoughtful juxtapostion of the meaning of "us" vs. "them". I was expecting more of a heavy-handed nationalism. While there is some action and drama, that's not what this series is all about. I wanted Claire Danes to be stronger in the role, but the writing and story arc were compelling enough to keep me watching.
Very hard to watch; there are no good guys to root for in the series.
This series is heavy and depressing. I can not BELIEVE it won a Golden Globe and beat out MAD MEN. It does nothing that has not already been done before, sex, violence etc. I'm going to skip it!!
Have these '5 star' reviews been written be hired Networkers ?? They seem...'professional' !?! ... not like us ?
