This is an odd and quirky book. I like odd and quirky.

Inspired by The Secret Garden, this fantasy is a quick read.

It is wonderfully phrased with the main idea of the story still apparent in the entire book. I would definitely give it a five stars because of the elegance in the way Ms.Potter wrote the book

I'm afraid I've yet to read The Secret Garden--which the cover says inspired this and other readers say it resembles--so I can't make a comparison or tell how this stacks up, but that fact didn't lessen my enjoyment of The Humming Room at all. Potter is such a skilled and delightful writer that she's a pleasure to read. An excellent mix of well-drawn characters, darkness, mystery, hope, eloquent prose, and storytelling. I often can't find the energy or focus to read when I'm laid out on the couch with a cold, but I had no trouble getting drawn into and enchanted by this one.
