A great movie telling the story of the development of Facebook and the many lawsuits that followed. It shows Mark Zuckerberg as both a visionary and a thoroughly unlikeable human being. Fast moving and very well acted.
Compelling peek into a slice of the life of a modern day (egocentric? back stabbing?) genius, and the dawn of the creation much of today's world revolves around. Very good film.
What is this Facebook thing? I never heard of it.
“As for any charges stemming from the breach of security, I believe I deserve some recognition from this board,” Zuckerberg on relying on placing trust in a technology paradigm as the basis for job security! ---- Listen to the techno-jabber: "Are we having scalibility problems?" "Yes." The reply, "throw money at the problem." ---- There is no solution to the problem being discussed, because at any one time (we are led to believe,) 30% of any farm is thrashing idle clock cycles. ---- The movie is cool.
The Social Network is a 2010 American drama film directed by David Fincher and written by Aaron Sorkin. This film is based on Ben Mezrich's 2009 book "The Accidental Billionaires." I don't think Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has become a billionaire by accident. It is not definitely different from hitting a jackpot in the first place. Mark Zuckerberg expressed his dissatisfaction with the film being made about him and noted that much of the film's plot was not factual. In fact, the protagonist is imagined more like a villain rather than a visionary. I read the book "The Facebook Effect", which seems much closer to the real events.
stunning movie that was tottally unexpected with how they told the story. and the opening scene? killer.
Now that I know it's history I have been trying to determine if it changes my usage of Facebook. As much as I'd like to say it should, it doesn't. The one girl who talked about it being addictive was, in my opinion, correct. The movie itself was eye opening and not one to be watched when you're half asleep. You have to keep up with it. Well done.
Great movie - best line has to be near the end when the lawyer replies to Zuckerberg - stop trying so hard to be an a-hole. Definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat. The extras are definitely worth watching, if only to see the labourious process of the director in making this movie. Also, the brutal honesty of Jesse is unusual to see in these sorts of exposés. I find the extras to be too long and I stopped about 3/4 of the way through as it was too hard to stay awake.
Even better after the second viewing! Fast paced, take-no-prisoners energy. Like a cross between "Wall Street" and "The Rules of Attraction".
