Add a CommentI have always loved her. This movie is a classic. I just LOVE the 50's
I love the part where she's considering aloud how to cool off her apartment, "No, that would be too icky!"
I found it amusing. Especially this quote: "Contains carbonated water, citric acid, corn syrup, artificial raspberry flavoring, pure vegetable colors and preservatives. I would like Dr. Summers to explain to me why this stuff should be better for you than a little scotch, plain water and a twist of lemon." How true.. :)
This is a very witty and creative movie for literary people. Even though the 1950's censors made the writer cut most of the best lines the script is still hilarious. Billy Wilder is brilliant and Marilyn Monroe is luminous. If you like intelligent movies adapted from plays you will enjoy. I wish I could have seen the un-edited play on Broadway.
I finally got to watch the film made famous because Marilyn Monroe was standing over a subway grate in NYC wearing a white dress swirling up and about on a busy street. I suppose the film must have been considered comical & racy for the 1950s (???) but I didn't see what all the to do was about. I didn't find anything to outright laugh about, and the home alone husband's vivid daydreams were slightly confusing. Hope the stage play was entertaining ... I rate the film under so-so.
Marilyn Monroe's best movie I think.
