Add a Comment"best clash album ever!" also my own personal favorite album ever, with the Ramones greatest hits a very very close second.
If you think of The Clash as "just a punk band" then listen to this LP. And think again. There's a reason it was number 6 on the Rolling Stone top 500 Records. Truly a perfect record; this one's got it all including brilliant pop (Train in Vain), classic rock and roll (Brand New Cadillac), insightful and melodic tracks (Lost in the Supermarket) and of course some great driving punk tunes (London Calling) where you think the band might just suffer from spontaneous combustion from the energy. Just listen to The Clampdown if you want to know why the critics fell off their chairs when they heard it the first time.
Punk in it's prime.
this is THE clash album everybody must have in their collection. i flat love it. i loved and miss joe strummer (he went far too young). it's not all in your face punk rock but it is excellent music. gets ya going in the morning does this.
Remember Clash came to Edmonton.1st "punk" band.1st song incredible, crowd wild.2nd song, halfway through,Strummer stops band for some safety issue in crowd.Points to a photog & yells"quit pushing, yeah I'm talkin to you,if you don't quit pushin I'm gonna brain ya with my telecaster" ! After failed tries by security,police,15min delay, 300lb roadie parts crowd & raises 16ft broken 2/4 with nasty point. Was sure drama would be Edmons 1st riot.Band started up & for just 3 guys put on one of most fascinating & best concerts in history
Such an amazing album. Oh, and Paul sings! It's awesome!
