Beautiful illustrations and a nice comment on being the middle child, but didn't say anything particularly interesting in favour or against television. Creativity and imagination can be used with or without television, and this book doesn't quite explore that - then again, it is meant to be brief and fun, and it is!

It is great to see a story that promotes plain, old imagination over TV in this age of media. The family bond is only strengthened by this...and it doesn't hurt to have the bubble wrap either!

The illustrations are just stellar. I give this book 5 stars because my 3 year old asked for bubble wrap right after reading this and has been having the time of her life popping bubbles for the last week! Yes it is rather a simple story, but I've never seen it told this way, and I loved it.

Lacks any subtlety or nuance with the anti-screen-time theme. Not especially captivating or interesting. But, oh, the illustrations! Delicate and fun and lovely and understated and...quite brilliant. Not the best of McCarty's work, but still worth a look. Decent read aloud.

Blek, could the message hit you over the head hard enough? Three stars for the exxxxxxxcellent, expressive artwork. I want McCarty to do a portrait of my kitties. :)
